God’s Not Guilty: Finding Peace in a Confusing World

Scripture references

  • James 1:17
  • John 10:10
  • James 4:7
  • Luke 10:19
  • John 14:12
  • Romans 8:28
  • Genesis 50:20

Life is messy, but God is not confusing. Scripture draws a bright line: if it’s good, it’s God; if it steals, kills,
or destroys, it’s the thief. God’s sovereignty isn’t the authorship of pain—it’s authority over outcomes. Today,
we trade blame for belief and step into peace by seeing the Father of lights clearly.

Full recap (expand/collapse)

Expanded recap with metaphor and theological insight

James 1:17 names God as the Father of lights—no shadow, no variableness—only good. John 10:10 clarifies the opposition:
the thief steals, kills, destroys; Jesus brings abundant life. Romans 8:28 reframes hope: not prevention, but redemption.
Genesis 50:20 shows the pattern: what was meant for evil becomes rescue in God’s hands. Peace begins when we stop putting
God on trial and start running to Him as our refuge.

Key points in bullet format with sticky phrases

  • Two sources, two outcomes: Good gifts from the Father; destruction from the thief. “If it’s good, it’s God.”
  • Sovereignty with goodness: Authority over outcomes, not authorship of evil. “Final word, not first wound.”
  • Resist, don’t resign: Submit to God, resist the devil; authority in Christ. “Pray from victory.”
  • Jesus our pattern: He spoke “Peace, be still,” healed, and raised; we partner. “Greater works.”
  • Redeemed outcomes: God recycles pain into purpose and testimony. “Ashes to art.”

🕊️ This Week's Devotional

Scripture: Matthew 14:29

“So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus.”

When Jesus calls you out of your comfort zone, the waters beneath you aren’t meant to drown you — they’re meant to deliver you. Faith is a muscle; this week, exercise it by stepping toward what scares you with confidence that Jesus is already there.
